Coconut Fiber and Peat

Coconut Fiber and Coconut Peat Manufacturer and Exporter that Cares for the Environment

Greenville Agro Corporation cares for the environment. We have an unwavering commitment to protect it from further decline. We help minimize waste by producing and exporting coconut fiber and peat that are essentially leftover materials. These non-food products are derived from the same high quality coconuts where all the other coconut-based goods we manufacture originate.

There is a different kind of satisfaction that we feel when we know that we do not only provide healthy food products but also supply environment-friendly non-food products worldwide.

Knowing the Difference Between Coconut Fiber and Coconut Peat

Coconut Fiber

Coconut fiber is the fibrous material found between the internal shell and outer coat of a coconut, and which is extracted from the husk. Aside from being a natural material, coconut fiber is relatively waterproof and resistant to saltwater damage.

In the past, the usual practice of farmers after taking the coconut meat out had been to burn the coconut husks. However, a more environment-friendly approach is having these waste materials processed in a coconut coir factory. This is exactly what we do at Greenville Agro. We produce coconut fiber that makes durable material for string, rope, brushes, doormats, carpets, yarn fishing nets, and mattresses. These environment-friendly alternatives would have not reached the market if the coconut husks were left to rot.

Coconut Peat

Coconut peat is the powdery material that results from the processing of coconut fiber. It has a high lignin and cellulose content and a carbon-nitrogen ratio of 104. The high percentage of lignin present in coconut peat makes it stable. Coconut peat also has a water holding capacity that is 5 to 6 times its weight.

Normally, coconut peat is disposed of and left to decompose. However, it takes decades for coconut peat to break down and become organic waste. So why not process it instead? After all, it can be a substitute to traditional peat in soil mixtures. It can be used together with organic supplements in crop fields and also in horticulture and floriculture. It likewise can be used as a rooting and growing medium for certain ornamental flowering plants. Decomposed coconut peat is used in the hydroponic system for growing roses and vegetables under controlled conditions. Under sterilized conditions, it is used in mushroom cultivation.

Producing Quality Coconut Fiber and Peat

We always focus on quality when we produce both our food and non-food products. We have realized early on that if we want to maintain our competitive edge, we have to continuously improve not only our systems but also our mindset. As the number of people clamoring for an improved and healthy environment increases, the more our company will try to keep up with this change in perspective.
